I know I've been quiet on here but I've been working on several projects. Including one I've launched today! It's a podcast! Because that's what we all need, another podcast! :D
Starting a podcast was a goal of mine for 2018. I wasn't sure what I wanted it to be about, but I knew I had to put something out there that's uniquely Dietcoke4breakfast! Three weeks ago, I attended a workshop at the Toronto Public Library, hosted by Katie and Vicky from Vocal Fry Studios. I got some great tips on what to do and what to avoid and tips on recording.
Over the past few weeks, I came up with a name, sat on the email, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts I wanted for the pod and worked out my structure. I learned the audio editing software and read up about getting it out there on Apple Podcasts, etc. I even designed my own logo! Finally, when I was ready to record, I booked studio time at the Toronto Reference Library and... I got recording!
Pop& Down is where I've combined my two passions - pop culture and mental health. I want to show the value that pop culture can bring to those of us living with mental illness, addiction and/or trauma.
In episode one, I chat with myself! I talk about the structure of the podcast, what I hope to accomplish, and I talk about where I've seen myself in pop culture - the film, Young Adult and - you know it! - Britney Jean Spears.
The podcast is on SoundCloud right now, and I'm waiting for other podcatchers to approve it. I'll update once I'm more readily available. But if SoundCloud is your podcatcher of choice, please subscribe, like and share it!
Finally, I'm looking for interviewees! If you've struggled with mental health issues, addiction and/or trauma, and you've seen yourself portrayed in a movie, tv show, music... or you relate to a celebrity... or if you want to talk about which pieces of pop culture help you with your self-care, get in touch! And follow Pop& Down on all its socials!
