I need an editor.
Even though I’m more focused on my non-fiction writing right now, I’ve been going over some short stories from the past couple of years. I’m currently weaning off of one of my medications and it was one that helped me sleep, so hopping onto the computer at 3am is happening more and more.
The short stories are good. They could be great. I just need help with that.
When I started writing again, I was on a mission to just write what I like reading and it’s worked for me. I’m writing some stuff that’s witty and humorous with pop culture references aplenty, Featuring a Strong Female Lead. There’s traumas and general messiness. There’s broken hearts and broken brains. It’s not “literary,” by any means. But it’s entertaining. And human. It needs fine-tuning.
I suck at asking for help. It’s what I say my biggest weakness is at any job interview.
So, with today’s Terrible Writing Club prompt asking “what do you need?” here I am throwing myself out there and… asking.
If you are out there, and you have time/talent/resources to look over some pieces of my writing and give me constructive and critical feedback for cheap (or free!) please let me know. I’d be happy to do the same for you in return, so long as it’s not genre writing, as I find I can’t wrap my head sci fi and fantasy (but keep writing it if that’s what you love!).
Or! If you know someone who could help me, perhaps pass this along?
Ugh, it feels so weird putting this out there! This is an exercise in discomfort and vulnerability. I’m embarrassed. But since I’m living the #shootyourshotin2018 life… I need to be true to it.
